Visit the Edgeworth Park Zoo and Barnyard Museum

The Edgeworth Park Zoo and Barnyard Museum is home to more than 80 animals from nearly 30 species, many of which are endangered or difficult to find in the wild. In addition to the animals, the Zoo offers a kids’ garden and hands-on exhibits that allow visitors to learn about various aspects of farm life. The Zoo also has a large gift shop, making it a great place to spend an afternoon with the whole family. Visitors who plan to visit the Zoo and Museum should be sure to check the current schedule of events, as some special events are scheduled throughout the year. Explore Edgewood Historical Village

Edgewood Historical Village is a living museum showcasing the history of Texas from 1841 to 1901. The Village includes an historic church, a general store, a school, a blacksmith shop, and other buildings that were used during this time period. Visitors can also tour the Governor’s Mansion, which was used from 1872 to 1910. The mansion has been restored to its original appearance and offers tours for visitors. Visit the Edgeworth Battlefield State Historic Site

Located in the middle of Edgeworth Park, the Edgeworth Battlefield State Historic Site features a reconstructed Civil War era artillery battery that was used for training and for maintaining the cannon. The site also has a Visitors’ Center where a curator is on hand to answer questions and share information about the park. The Battlefield Site has a picnic area, an outdoor stage, and restrooms. There is also an adjacent trail with a walking trail that offers a nice view of the park. 

Shop in West Texas at the Edinburg Market District

The Edinburg Market District is a collection of over 20 antique and specialty shops that offer everything from arts and crafts to antiques and housewares. The shops are housed in a renovated train depot that was originally built in 1908.
